IT department questions Rajas’ relatives

24 Jun 2011

The Income Tax department today questioned relatives of union minister A Raja who is in jail for his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. Those questioned included his wife and his brother.

Raja's wife Parameswari, his brother A Ramachandran and two others were quizzed at the regional IT office in Trichy for about three hours. Officials though are tight-lipped about today's inquiry.

The CBI, probing the 2G spectrum allocation scam and the money trail, had earlier carried out searches at Perambalur, the former telecom minister's native district, at the premises of his relatives.

Raja is in Delhi's Tihar jail after his arrest on 17 February.

According to sources, the IT department is seeking details of a trust registered in the name of Raja's parents and looking into his links with Green House Promoters.
