Team Hazare initiates “referendum” on Lokpal in Sibal’s constituency

The Anna Hazare team today initiated a "referendum" on Lokpal Bill, in a bid to galvanise public opinion on its side as its volunteers visited 10 localities in Chandni Chowk, the parliamentary constituency of human resources development minister Kapil Sibal, who has been critical of the Lokpal movement by citizen's led by Hazare.

The volunteers distributed copies of a two-page questionnaire having eight questions, to voters in the constituency.

The Hazare team expects to cover the whole constituency by Sunday.

Activist Arvind Kejriwal said they would approach around 7 lakh house-holds in Chandni Chowk.

He said since Sibal was the face of the government on Lokpal, the civil society members decided to hold the referendum in his constituency.

He said volunteers would visit households, leave copies of the questionnaire and collect them two days later.
