Modi to lay foundation for IOC, Gail pipeline projects in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch projects worth Rs14,523 crore in Odisha, including Indian Oil corporation’s Paradip-Hyderabad Product Pipeline Project (PHPL) and the Bokaro-Angul section of Gas Authority of India Ltd’s (Gail) Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Gas Pipeline Project (PM Urja Ganga) on Monday.
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC) is building a 1,212-km-long product pipeline connecting Paradip port with Hyderabad, at a sanctioned cost of Rs3,800 crore. The Paradip-Hyderabad product pipeline will be capable of transporting 4.5 MMTPA of petrol, diesel, kerosene and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), minister of petroleum and natural gas and skill development and entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan said at a function in Orissa on Thursday.
The pipeline originates at Paradip and traverses through three states - Odisha (329 km), Andhra Pradesh (723 km) and Telangana (160 km) before terminating at Hyderabad. The pipeline has delivery cum pumping stations at Behrampur, Vizag, Rajahmundry and Vijaywada.
The prime minister will also inaugurate the 667-km-long Bokaro-Angul pipeline sections of the landmark Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline Project (PM Urja Ganga), being built by the Gas Authority of India Limited (Gail) at a sanctioned cost of Rs3,437 crore. The pipeline is a part of the landmark Pradhan MantriUrja Ganga project and traverses 367 km across 5 districts in Odisha and 360 km across 6 districts in Jharkhand, Pradhan said.
He mentioned that apart from generating employment during its construction, the PHPL will also ensure efficient transportation of petroleum products across the three States and further cement Paradip’s position as an energy hub of eastern India.
Prime Minister Modi will be flagging off a basket of projects with total investment of over Rs14,523 crore by the centre and the Odisha government under the special focus state under the vision of Purvodaya, which envisions rapid socio-economic development in states like Odisha to unleash their true potential and bring them at par with the most developed states in the country.
These include a new IIT at Bhubaneswar (involving an expenditure of Rs1,260 crore), construction of permanent campus of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) at Berhampur (Rs1,583 crore), Archaeological Museum at Lalitgiri (9.5 crore), 6-laning of Chandikhole-Bhadrak section of NH-16 (old NH-5 - length 74.5 km), 6-laning of Tangi-Puintola section of NH-16 (old NH-5 -length-75.36 km), Khandagiri flyover – length-2 km (Rs116 crore) and 4-laning of Cuttack-Angul section of NH-42 - length-111.6 km (1,991 crore).
He will also inaugurate an ESIC hospital built at a cost of Rs75 crore besides releasing the Paika Commemorative Coin and announce the establishment of the BuxiJagabandhu Chair at Utkal University.
