HCC wins Rs 393-crore road contract on the Indo-Nepal border

Infrastructure construction and development company HCC Ltd is undertaking to redevelop a 65.87 km section of National Highway-233, on the Indo-Nepal Border

The project is part of the National Highway Development Program Phase-IV.

The scope of work includes rehabilitation, upgradation and augmentation of the existing carriageway to two-lane, with paved shoulders, construction of pavements, construction and/or rehabilitation of major and minor bridges, culverts, road intersections, interchanges, drains.

The Rs393.08-crore engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the reconstruction pf the road has been awarded to HCC by the ministry of road transport and highway.

HCC wil reconstruct the 65-km stretch from Rudhauli village in Uttar Pradesh up to the Indo-Nepal border, which further connects to Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha, in Nepal.

According to Arun Karambelkar, president and CEO, HCC Ltd, said,  ''This highway will not only help improve infrastructure of our nation, but would also deepen India's economic relations with Nepal and the adjoining nations.''

In the transportation segment, HCC has a strong track record in construction of roads, highways, bridges, railways and mass rapid transport system such as the Kolkata and several underground sections of Delhi Metro. It has also constructed the landmark Pir Panjal Railway tunnel which is the longest transportation tunnel in India, the Delhi Faridabad Elevated Highway and the Bandra-Worli sea-link in Mumbai.
