India's coffee exports up over 29 per cent in July

India's coffee exports rose more than 29 per cent to 28,116 tonne in July this year against 21,767 tonnes exported in the same period of the previous year, on the back of robust global demand.
Shipments in July, however, were down 30 per cent on a sequential basis, compared with June exports of 40,202 tonnes, Coffee Board data showed.
Coffee exports from the country fetched $80.35 million (Rs366.03 crore) in July 2011 while export value realisation in the same month last year stood at Rs1,30,185 per tonne, the official added.
Market analysts attribute the declining trend in exports to falling international prices with the start of new crop arrivals and low carry-over stock with exports.
Indian coffee exports picked up in January-May 2011 amidst production shortfalls in top producer countries Brazil and Columbia.
In January-May 2011, India's exports of coffee were up 43 per cent at 1, 81,308 tonnes, compared with 1, 27,160 tonnes in the same period of the previous year.
