250 Apollo Reach hospitals to come up in small towns

After setting up a chain of 47 hospitals in cities like New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, Apollo Hospitals, is now eyeing small towns such as Karimnagar to drive future growth.

After Karur in Tamil Nadu, Karimnagar, a tier-III town, 162km from Hyderabad has become the second town in its category to have an Apollo Reach hospital. The 150-bed hospital has been set up at an investment of Rs22 crore.

The hospital will offer services to people in and around Karimnagar and is expected to achieve margins of 25 per cent in the future.

According to Suneeta Reddy, executive director, finance Apollo Hospitals, the initiative called 'Apollo Reach' envisages the setting up of 100-150 bed hospitals up in non-metros and non-urban parts of the country.

She said that once the model evolved the company would look at scaling it up.

Other towns that are under consideration for setting up of Reach hospitals in the near future are Nellore (Andhra Pradesh), Bhubaneshwar (Orissa), Karaikudi (Tamil Nadu) and Nashik (Maharashtra).
