All 645 Indian evacuees from China test `negative’ for new coronovirus

All 645 Indians evacuated from the Wuhan province in China have tested negative for the novel coronavirus, an official release from the ministry of health and family welfare stated.

In addition, 510 samples have been tested by ICMR network laboratories, of which all have tested negative except for 3 already reported positive. The 3 positive cases from Kerala are also reported to be clinically stable, it added.
Community surveillance and contact tracing is ongoing by IDSP for 6,558 persons across 32 states/UTs.
As of 6 February, 1,38,750 passengers from 1,265 flights have been screened for possible virus infection and no new case has been detected so far, according to the health ministry.
The Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) set up by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) held a meeting on 6 February to discuss various technical issues, including review period of follow-up required for asymptomatic travellers from China.
The release said the union health ministry in coordination with other central ministries and all states/UTs is taking adequate measures for management of Novel Coronavirus in India. It has also advised people to seek immediate medical attention in case of fever, cough and symptoms of pneumonia.
