CII delegation to visit Turkmenistan

A business delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will visit Turkmenistan from 7 February to 9 February, coinciding the visit of Preneet Kaur, minister of state for external affairs.

The CII delegation will organise an India-Turkmenistan Business Forum with the Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCC&I) on 8 February, to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries.

The CII business delegation will also participate in India-Turkmenistan Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) of Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation.

The delegation will also interact with key Turkmenistan government officials and the leaders of the business community.

India's total trade with Turkmenistan has stood at $42.35 million in 2008-09, up from $26.12 million in 2004-05. CII sees enormous potential for increasing cooperation in areas like energy (refining, power plants, oil and gas exploration), information technology, healthcare and medical cities, tourism, food processing, organic chemicals, agricultural products, meat, poultry and dairy, education and skill development.

The business delegation includes senior executives from Tata Chemicals Limited, Punj Lloyd, Wapcos, Appaswamy group, AMC Overseas Limited, The Fortune Group, and Preimer's Tea Limited.

The delegation will be led by Shiv Vikram Khemka, vice chairman, the Sun Group and chairman, CII Russia committee.
