AVG Logistics to flag off first private cargo special train tomorrow

Freight transport and warehousing services provider AVG Logistics is all set to flag off the first private cargo special train from Chalakkudy in Kerala to Moga near Ludhiana. The weekly train service, which will be operated on a 'round trip' basis, will have halts at Erode, Bangalore and Delhi.

The new service would facilitate movement of agricultural and industrial products from Kerala to Delhi, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Rajasthan and western UP within a transit period of 8-10 days, the company said in a statement issued today.

The train with 21 compartments has a carrying capacity of 468 tonnes, ensuring sufficient loading space for the users, AVG Logistics said, adding that AVG will handle the loading, in collaboration with the Central Rail-side Warehouse Company (CRWC).

AVG Logistics plans to consolidate operations by actively involving in loading and unloading of the train and providing door-to-door service to customers, virtually covering the cargo movement network from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the release said.

The new cargo train services will cater to the needs of the industry and trade sectors for transporting products for the movement of its products in bulk quantities at competitive price with optimal transit time, it added.

AVG Logistics, has a fleet of vehicles carrying about 7,500 containers in a year. The company also has strategically located warehouses, closer to the ports as well as cities, to provide warehousing facilities.
