Bosch, Siemens to set up Rs479 crore manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu

German home appliances major BSH Bosch, jointly with Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH, plans to invest Rs479.27 crore to set up a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu.

The unit, which would manufacture home appliances, would be set up BSH Bosch's subsidiary BSH Household Appliances Manufacturing Pvt Ltd, according to a statement issued by the company.

On commissioning of the facility, the company intends to provide employment to 2,000 people, half of which would be direct employment, the release added. 

The company, which has sought 42 acres at Sipcot Industrial Park at Pillaipakkam, Kanchipuram district, is planning to set a facility to manufacture air-conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines.

At a function on Friday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa presented the Letter of Allotment of land to the company's Zonal Manager V K Viswanathahan.

Home appliances and electronics maker Samsung has invested over $100 million at its factory in Sriperumbudur, while Panasonic also has set up a unit at Sholavaram and Chennai. The state is also home to original equipment manufacturers like Foxconn and Flextronics.
