Commonwealth Games files go missing

Some crucial documents that would have thrown light on the murky deals in the Commonwealth Games have now gone missing which, the investigating agencies fear, might have been destroyed.

The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) office has reported that some key files, which contain important information on tendering, budgetary allocation and contract details, are missing, official sources said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing the alleged bungling, has made a list of documents, which are untraceable.

CBI officials say there is also evidence of criminal conspiracy by some unknown officials in tampering with the documents and manipulating information.

A team of 20-30 sleuths searched the OC office besides its Secretary General Lalit Bhanot's residence last month.
