Òpera, a consortium of cooperative agricultural enterprises and  Italian food-farming institutions within the framework of the European excellence programme announced its line-up of promotional activities in India for December 2009 in Mumbai.

The endeavour is to ensure a first-hand understanding of European labels health benefits, pairings, even recipe suggestions that would suit the Indian palate and culinary traditions through training and dissemination of information to the F&B sector, media and opinion-makers about the six categories of products represented by Òpera.

As part of its second year India promotion, the European excellence programme - via the Òpera Consortium - has lined up a series of activities to present products from the European Agro Food sector.

A multi-city road-show will offer a varied bouquet of events and micro-events, with a view to providing an interactive platform that entertains and informs about world class agro-food products.

Speaking on the occasion Antonello Ciambriello, head of delegation, said, ''Òpera offers a complete package - a wide range of products for diverse target groups that cater to every taste and pocket. It showcases modestly priced table wines in tetra-packs as well as more upmarket wines such as the very high-end Amarone. The entire product range including wines, dairy products, meats, fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, juices and sauces aims to offer something for everyone,'' emphasises Ciambriello.

Òpera is a consortium of cooperative agricultural enterprises and Italian food-farming institutions. Founded in 2007, it aims to promote, enhance spread and popularise products born of quality food-farming cooperatives in the world.

The six main chains of European agro-production include: fresh fruits and vegetables as well as their processed offshoots like conserves, juices, dairy products, wine, olive oils, cold cuts and choice meats.
