Greater Media buys North Carolina radio stations from Lincoln Financial

Radio station major Greater Media is buying a cluster of radio stations in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $100 million, from the Lincoln Financial Group, a Philadelphia-based services financial services company that also owns media properties.

Lincoln''s Charlotte radio cluster include WBT-AM, a news-and-talk format station that is simulcast on WBT-FM, and WLNK-FM, which broadcasts the nationally syndicated ''Bob and Sheri Show''. The deal is expected to close in January.

Greater Media already owns stations in Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia and New Jersey. Boston stations include WROR-FM, WKLB-FM, talk station WTKK-FM, WMJX-FM and WBOS-FM. The acquisition gives Greater Media a total 23 radio stations, and a present in the southern US for the first time.
