Guardian.co.uk retained its position as the most popular UK newspaper site with 35.8 million unique users recorded through November, according to the latest ABCE rankings.

ABC data shows that the number of people reading news on Guardian.co.uk rose by 13 per cent in November.

Globally, there were 35.8 million unique visits to the online portal, which features content from the Observer and The Guardian.

This is the highest monthly number for any UK newspaper website and bears the previous 33 million record, which was set by the same publication in September.

The Daily Mail also experienced an increase in web traffic, as did The Telegraph.

The increase kept Guardian.co.uk ahead of Mail Online, which increased by 2.66 per cent to 31.3 million users. Telegraph.co.uk was third, attracting 30.8 million visitors, also up 2.66 per cent in October.
