Haryana IAS officer probing Vadra-DLF land deals transferred

16 Oct 2012

Within hours of ordering a probe into all land dealings between Robert Vadra and DLF, Haryana's top land records officer Ashok Khemka has been transferred.

In an order dated 12 October, Khemka, then inspector general of registration Haryana asked the deputy commissioners cum registrars of the four districts of Gurgaon, Faridabad, Palwal and Mewat to scrutinise all documents registered by or on behalf of Robert Vadra from 1 January, 2005 to date.

The move comes only a few days after allegations were levelled by India Against Corruption led by Arvind Kejriwal. IAC pointed to corruption in certain deals involving realty major DLF and Robert Vadra.

The top officer cancelled the mutation of 3.53 acres of land that was sold by Vadra's Sky Light Hospitality Private Limited to DLF, after he found irregularities in the transfer of land. The transaction in Manesar-Shikohpur reportedly bore signatures of an unauthorised Haryana official.

The Manesar-Shikohpur deal came as the first in a series of major land deals between Vadra and DLF. Kejriwal had made a pointed reference to it and alleged irregularities.

It was alleged that Vadra, reportedly, bought the plot of land for Rs7.5 crore and after selling it to DLF for Rs58 crore, used the money to buy premium DLF apartments.
