Amara Raja Infra completes construction of NTPC’s hydrogen fuel station in Leh

Amara Raja Infra, a sister concern of Amara Raja Batteries, on Tuesday said it has completed construction of NTPC’s green hydrogen fuel station in Leh, Ladakh, which is some 3,500 metres above sea level.
Union minister for power and housing and urban affairs, Manohar Lal, inaugurated India’s first hydrogen fuelling station.
The project, which will facilitate emission-free transport, is part of India’s green mobility initiative under the National Hydrogen Energy Mission.
With the completion of the project, NTPC will be operating five hydrogen fuel cell buses in Leh connecting nearby areas.
The EPC contract involved design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the hydrogen fuel station, on a turnkey basis. Amara Raja Infra will also provide operational and maintenance support for the fuel station.
The successful commissioning of the project marks Amara Raja Group’s entry into the green hydrogen infrastructure sector.
The fuel station has a capacity to produce 80 kg of green hydrogen per day.
It will serve as a model for future green hydrogen mobility and storage projects in India, besides providing inputs for future projects.
Besides the Leh hydrogen fuel station, NTPC is building such stations in Greater Noida, in Uttar Pradesh.
