Irate real estate brokers gather at NoBroker’s premises

It would seem that real estate brokers are seriously worried about being made redundant by technology. Around 40-50 real estate brokers gathered outside the Bengaluru-based online real-estate company NoBroker's office and tried to enter the premise forcefully, the company said. The company has filed a complaint at the nearby police station.

Nobroker, which provides houses to people without the involvement of brokers, said the mob gathered outside its office with the intention to damage property and disrupt work.

''When some of our employees got assaulted, despite attempts at peaceful discussion, NoBroker informed the police who came in and prevented the situation from getting worse,'' the company said in a statement.

The company competes with online real-estate portals such as Housing, Commonfloor, etc, which work with brokers.

''We at NoBroker are committed to the safety and security of our employees at all times. In the age of internet and mobile penetration, this assault is an attempt to hamper technology-based evolution. This is clearly an indication of the disruption that NoBroker is causing in the real estate market which is leading to huge savings for the customer and the pinch is felt by the brokers,'' the company said.

''We have successfully democratized the rental space with the help of technology and the validation of our belief is that today we are the world's largest 'Peer-to-Peer' ecosystem in real estate with a three-lakh user base. We are currently helping our customers save more than 15 crore of brokerage every month across four cities (Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Chennai),'' the company claimed.
