Ivanka Trump's clothing line notches record sales

Ivanka Trump's clothing line seems to be doing quite well despite a number of controversies over the brand.

The women's fashion line reportedly registered record sales despite calls to boycott the brand of President Trump's daughter.

"Since the beginning of February, they were some of the best performing weeks in the history of the brand," Abigail Klem, the president of the Ivanka Trump brand, told Refinery29.

"For several different retailers Ivanka Trump was a top performer online, and in some of the categories it was the [brand's] best performance ever."

Nordstrom had announced it would cut ties with the brand, as sales declined, but the company's decision came after increased pressure on retailers to drop Trump products or risk boycott from activists.

Neiman Marcus too withdrew Trump's jewellery line on its website (See: Nordstrom Inc to stop selling controversial Ivanka brand).

After the Nordstrom decision Trump had tweeted that his daughter was being "treated so unfairly," but the department store denied it was a political decision.

The controversy got a new twist, after senior White House adviser, Kellyanne Conway also urged "Fox & Friends" viewers to "go buy Ivanka's stuff" in a televised interview from the White House briefing room.

The Office of Government Ethics called for disciplinary action against Conway for the promotion, but the White House later decided there had been no intentional wrongdoing.

A campaign called Grab Your Wallet, which was critical of the Trump administration, called on shoppers to boycott retailers with any Ivanka or Donald Trump-branded products.

However, e-commerce aggregators Lyst reported that from January to February, Ivanka Trump sales shot 346 per cent, according to Refinery29.

Meanwhile, Klem, a registered Democrat said she attempted to limit any chatter between herself and Ivanka. ''I really like Ivanka, The Hill reported. We're business associates. We're very close in a way. … But I want to do this with real integrity. So I feel like, while we're not banned from speaking personally, I think it's easier if we talk as little as possible.''
