Jharkhand to get an AIIMS hospital at Deoghar

The union cabinet on Wednesday approved setting up of a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Deoghar, Jharkhand, with Rs1,103 crore being approved for the project.
The hospital will be set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
The new hospital will have a 750-bed capacity with trauma centre facilities. It willl have an attached medical college with an intake of 100 MBBS students per year and a
nursing college with an intake of 60 BSc(nursing) students per year, residential complexes and allied facilities / services, broadly on the pattern of AIIMS, New Delhi.
Twenty specialty and super specialty departments and 15 operation theatres will be located at the facility, along with an Ayush Department with 30 beds for providing treatment facilities in the traditional system of medicine.
The setting up of new AIIMS at Deoghar will serve the dual purpose of providing super speciality health care in the area while also helping to create a large pool of doctors and other health workers in the region who would be made available for primary and secondary-level institutions / facilities being created under the National Health Mission.
