Kraft Foods recalls 242,000 cases of Macaroni & Cheese Dinner over metal contamination

18 Mar 2015

Kraft Foods is recalling around 242,000 cases of the Original flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner since some boxes may contain small pieces of metal, the company yesterday said in a statement.

The Illinois-based company said that eight consumers had complained about the product but no injuries have been reported.

The recalled product for the 7.25-oz. size of the Original flavour of boxed dinner with the "Best When Used By" dates of 18 September 2015 through11 October 2015, with the code "C2" directly below the date on each individual box.  The "C2" refers to a specific production line on which the affected product was made.

Some of these products have also been packed in multi-pack units that have a range of different code dates and manufacturing codes on the external packaging.

The recalled products were shipped by Kraft in the US, Puerto Rico and some Caribbean and South American countries, but not to Canada.

Kraft has advised customers who purchased this product, not to eat it but return it to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or full refund.

This is not the first such time Kraft has recently recalled its products over quality issues. In May last year, Kraft recalled 1.2 million cases of some of its cottage cheese products over improper storage.

It later recalled 260 cases of Velveeta cheese because it did not contain enough of the needed preservative which could lead to premature spoilage and then recalled over seven thousand cases of Kraft American Singles due to storage issue.
