Linfox Logistics, one of the largest supply chain operators in Australia, has signed a A$2 billion mega-deal with National Foods Limited, leading food and beverage producer, to manage the majority of their Australian national distribution for the next ten years.

Linfox CEO Michael Byrne said, ''Worth up to $2 billion in revenue over ten years, this is one of the largest single contracts in the Linfox Logistics portfolio and in the Australian logistics industry.''

The scope of work, including distribution centre design and management, transportation and local distribution is expected to generate nearly 300 jobs.

National Foods which used to employ various transport operators for its deliveries across the country, decided in favour of a single operator with a view to consolidate the distribution and reduce costs.

National Foods' group executive (corporate services & logistics), Conor O'Malley said, ''Most importantly, this will reduce complexity, provide supply chain visibility, and help us deliver a best-in-class service to our customers.''

Melbourne-based Linfox Logistics is the largest privately owned supply chain solutions company in the Asia Pacific region. The company has operations in 11 countries employing over 15,000 people. Its 1.8 million square metres of warehousing and fleet of around 5,000 vehicles provide services to a wide range of leading business names generating a revenue of around A$2 billion.
