Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev-backed Patanjali Ayurved posted revenues of Rs10,561 crore the full 2016-17 fiscal emerging as the third-largest FMCG player in the country, beating major rivals such as Nestlé India (Rs9,159 crore), Godrej Consumer (Rs9,134 crore) and Dabur (Rs7691 crore).

The Haridwar-based company, which doubled FY17 revenues from around Rs5,000 crore in fiscal 2015-16, now hopes to cross Rs20,000-25,000 crore in sales this financial year.

''We would grow more than double this year... By next year, Patanjali would be in the leading position and in most of the product categories, it would be number one,'' Ramdev said.

The company is in the process of setting up mega production units at several places, including Noida, Nagpur, and Indore, which would take its production capacity to Rs60,000 crore from the existing Rs35,000 crore.

''Our Noida facility would have a production capacity of Rs20,000 crore, Nagpur 15,000 crore to Rs 20,000 crore and Indore Rs5,000 crore,'' Ramdev pointed out.

Patanjali is also doubling its distribution network from 6,000 to 12,000 to reach more consumers across the country.

Besides, the company will focus more on items such as spices, pulses, vegetable oil, biscuits, confectionery and juices and add more products into these segments.

In FY17, Patanjali Ayurved alone contributed Rs9,634 crore to its turnover, while Divya Pharmacy that manufactures ayurvedic medicines had clocked Rs870 crore sales.

Patanjali's Ayurved division is the star performer for the brand. Some of the flagship products of the fast growing Patanjali brand are Desi Ghee, Dant Kanti toothpaste, Kesh Kanti shampoo and herbal bath soap and Patanjali Honey.

Patanjali ghee is the largest-selling product in the company. Patanjali claims that its shampoo has a 15 per cent market share, toothpaste 14 per cent, face wash 15 per cent, dish wash 35 per cent and honey 50 per cent.

During the fiscal, Patanjali ghee had a business of Rs1,467 crore and oral care brand Dant Kanti Rs940 crore. Its personal care brand Keshkanti had sales of Rs825 crore and herbal soap Rs574 crore.

''Dant Kanti has a 14-per cent market share in the segment. Honey is around Rs350 crore and would grow to Rs500-600 crore this year,'' Ramdev said.
