Chennai: The Mumbai-based Pearl Media, a television programme production and marketing house, is planning to produce game shows for children.

Says the 38-year old Anil Mishra, CEO, "Though there are a multitude of television channels including kids channels, there are no game shows for the children. And we are looking forward to producing some."

Adds L J Henry, vice president, South, "We are now working on two or three concepts. Soon we will be finalising them."

According to Mishra, the television content market is estimated to be around Rs4,000 crore. However, the content providers are fragmented and the market leader has a turnover of around Rs200 crore. "There is room for more players."

Though Pearl Media is a specialist in programme production and marketing, Mishra says there will be no conflict of interests. The company has added two new programmes on Sun TV viz Vikkiramadityan and Vellaku Vecha Veedu.

Meanwhile, Pearl Media's second production, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, a Tamil comedy serial-will soon go on air on Sun TV.

According to Arl Roy, the serial director, the uniqueness of the programme is that is a comedy serial. Most of the comedy programmes on air are single-episode ones.

Written by Prasanna Kumar, a movie story and scrip writer, Hare Rama Hare Krishna is a drama set in a middle class colony. A magazine contest wins the colony a free travel trip and the story revolves around what happens during the journey.

"The serial will have no resemblance to movies like Bombay to Goa or Madras to Pondicherry."

Pearl Media is in the process of finding sponsors for the 30 minute serial to be aired between 8.30 PM and 9 PM every Monday.
