Personal care company Helen of Troy to acquire rival Kaz Inc for $260 million

Helen of Troy Ltd, a global marketer of brand-name personal care and household consumer products, today said that it had entered into a definitive merger agreement to acquire its rival Kaz Inc, for $260 million in cash.

Based in Massachusetts, Kaz provides health care and home environment consumer solutions. It markets its products to leading retailers under license from companies such as Procter & Gamble and Honeywell and as well as its own brands.

Its has a wide range of product categories that include vaporizers, humidifiers, digital, infrared and non-invasive thermometers, blood pressure monitors, hot / cold health care therapy, air purifiers, seasonal humidifiers, heaters, fans, and dehumidifiers, and lawn and garden products.

Kaz expects revenues to exceed $400 million for the next twelve months ending 31 December 2011.

El-Paso, Texas-based Helen of Troy is a designer, producer and global marketer of a strong portfolio of brand-name household and personal care consumer products.

The company's household products include kitchen tools, cutlery, bar and wine accessories, household cleaning tools, tea kettles, trash cans, storage and organisation products, gardening tools, among others.
