SC adjourns bail hearings of arrested telecom bosses

The Delhi High Court has adjourned the bail hearing of  five corporate bigwigs, Vinod Goenka, a director of Swan Telecom, Sanjay Chandra, managing director, Unitech Wireless, and three officials of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair who had approached the Delhi High Court for bail last week. The corporate accused are in jail since their bail plea was dismissed by the special court on 20 April.

Meanwhile, the hearing into the 2G scam has been adjourned till 2 May. 

The CBI presenting its case came out with a consolidated list of charges that contained both charges as well as evidence against the accused. 

Top lawyers were present during the proceedings with Ram Jethmalani appearing for Sanjay Chandra and Soli Sorabjee appearing for Gautam Doshi. 

The court proceedings are expected to be a long-drawn affair and the arguments will continue when the court meets again on  Monday 2 May.

Meanwhile, Reliance ADAG executive Surender Pipara who has not been keeping well has been allowed by the high court to get a check-up done at a private hospital. Pipara will continue to be under custody during the check-up.
