Sharon Bio-Medicine to set up new plant at Sangli in Maharashtra

Sharon Bio-Medicine is planning to set up a state-of-the-art USFDA-approved plant for the manufacture of active pharma ingredients and intermediates, in a bid to facilitate global marketing of its products.

The company has been allotted 10 acres of land at MIDC, Chincholi, in Sangli district of Maharashtra, Sharon Bio-Medicine Ltd informed BSE in a filing today.

The MIDC area at Chincholi is well connected by rail and road and the government of Maharashtra has provided all the basic facilities to set up a manufacturing plant, the company said. However, the company is yet to obtain environment clearance for starting construction activity, according to the filing.

Incorporated in 1989, Sharon Bio-Medicine underwent a change of management in 1995. Since then the company has progressed manifold.

The company manufactures active pharma ingredients (API), intermediate of APIs and formulations.

Sharo Bio has three R&D units located at MIDC, Taloja, near Navi Mumbai and a toxicology laboratory at Dehraddun, Uttarakhand.
