Spain's Borges sets up Indian subsidiary to market Mediterranean food products

Borges, the Spanish food major, yesterday announced its foray into the Indian markets by setting up an Indian subsidiary.

Ambassador of Spain in India, Ion De La Riva, launched Borges range of olive oils and vinegar in Delhi yesterday.

''I am delighted to see Borges, a world renowned food brand from Spain foray in India to spread the benefits of healthy living through olive oil,'' said, Ion De La Riva.

Borges introduced its flagship product olive oil in three variants: extra virgin, extra light and pure olive oil. It also launched balsamic vinegar and microwave popcorns.Borges extra light olive oil, specially designed for the Indian consumers, has a light flavour and aroma which does not interfere with traditional spices used in Indian cooking.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajneesh Bhasin, managing director, Borges India private limited, said, ''We aim to attain a firm foothold in India and establish a leadership position by setting up an Indian subsidiary.

''As the world leader in Mediterranean diet, Borges' promise is to offer Indian consumers world class products to suit their local tastes and preferences. In line with the growing consciousness on health and wellness among Indian consumers, Borges will propagate the message of active lifestyle through multiple channels.''
