Supreme Petrochem to market high end Italian additives

Mumbai: Polystyrene producer Supreme Petrochem today said that it had signed an agreement to market Italian chemicals maker Ultrabatch s r l's high end additive additive Masterbatches.

Supreme said the agreement would help it move up the value chain in the petrochemicals business for additives for agricultural and horticultural products through access to state-of-the-art Ultrabatch additive Masterbatches manufacturing technology.

"This partnership will not only provide us access to key international markets but will also enhance our technical know-how in plastic processing business to cater to the growing modernisation needs of the agriculture and horticulture sector,'' M P Taparia, chairman, Supreme Petrochem Ltd. "this alliance is in line with our long term objective of moving up the value chain of petrochemicals business," he added.

The agricultural film business in India is in a nascent stage witrh a demand of just 12,000 mt per annum, valued at Rs250 crore. With an aggregate growth of 15 per cent per annum, it is poised to grow rapidly in the next few years due to the emphasis being laid by the government to modernise agricultural and horticulture activities.

As part of the alliance, Supreme Petrochem will also market Ultrabatch products in India and overseas while Ultrabatch will promote Supreme Petrochem range of Masterbatches in parts of Europe.

Peter Csergo, director, Ultrabatch, says, ''We are confident that Supreme Petrochem Masterbatches will be well accepted by quality conscious European market.''

Supreme Petrochemhas been jointly promoted by India's largest processor of plastics Supreme Industries Ltd, and the diversified Rajan Raheja group.
