Tayo to diversify; set up integrated facility for forgings

Mumbai: Tayo Rolls Ltd is setting up an integrated manufacturing facility for forgings and forged rolls at its works in Adityapur, Jamshedpur. The board of directors of the company has given in principle approval for the same.
Toyo
has tied up with Union Electric Steel Corporation of the
US, a leading forged roll manufacturer world-wide, for
setting up an integrated forging and induction hardening
facility to produce quality forged rolls and engineering
forgings and forging quality ingots.
The company proposes to finish machine rough turned hardened forged steel rolls imported from its US partner for supplying to steel plants.
The company also plans to diversify into engineering forgings, which would address fast-growing demand in energy, infrastructure, chemicals and petrochemical industries.
The completion of this project would give the company a unique distinction of totally integrated one-stop shop in cast and forged rolls, engineering castings and forgings.
Promoted by Tan Steel in collaboration with Yodogawa Steel Works Ltd and Nisshow Iwai Corporation (now Sojitz Corporation), Japan, Tayo Rolls is a leading supplier in the domestic market of quality cast rolls of spun cast and static grades to leading steel producers. The company also exports nearly 30 per cent of its production to overseas buyers, which include Corus, Thyssen, Arcelor-Mittal Steel and others.
