Fitness and health nutrition supplements provider, Weider Germany GmbH, has reiterated its commitment to the Indian market and says it is looking at expanding its presence by appointing distributors in every region.

Weider Germany GmbH was established by fitness and bodybuilding expert Joe Weider with a network across the United States and Europe.

Sven Schade, managing director of Weider Germany GmbH, said, ''We had been on the lookout for distributors in South East Asia and after a depth study of markets, it was unanimously decided that India would be best suited, given its growing economy, increasing purchasing power and its sophistication. We intend to bring our world-class products to the Indian market, which is witnessing a revolution with regard to health, fitness and bodybuilding among the youth. We are scouting for distributors who have a good network among gyms, fitness clubs, etc. We see a great potential in the Indian market and are excited to work hand in hand with distributors in all major Indian cities for building this promising new market.''

With a growing awareness and concentration on sports, India is today emerging to be a potential market with increasing number of athletes, sports people, body builders, fitness freaks and health conscious people.

Joe Weider, along with his brother, formed the International Federation of Bodybuilding in 1946. He created the Mr Olympia contest, which Arnold Schwarzenegger won seven times. There are 170 countries affiliated with the International Federation of Bodybuilding, and it ranks as one of the world's top seven international sports federations.

Joe Weider is acclaimed as "the father of modern bodybuilding" and the founder of the world's leading fitness magazines, including Shape, Muscle and Fitness, Men's Fitness, Fit Pregnancy, Hers, Golf for Seniors and others published worldwide in over 20 languages.

Weider says it is planning to appoint distributors with a large network, servicing the retail, gym outlets, health sector and pharmaceutical outlets. All products for the Indian market will be made in Germany.
