Wyndham Hotel Group continues global expansion with first property in India

15 Jan 2011

Wyndham Hotel Group, part of the Wyndham Worldwide Corporation, today announced the signing of a franchise agreement to open its first Wyndham Hotels and Resorts property in India.

The India foray supplements Wyndham's growth in Asia. The corporation had opened six Wyndham branded hotels with seven more under construction in China last year.

Located in New Delhi, the 394-room Wyndham New Delhi Dwarka Hotel is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in April 2011. The property, owned by Tirupati Buildings & Offices, will feature upscale amenities and personalised services.

Hotel facilities will include full-service Indian and multi-cuisine restaurants, nightclub, swimming pool, spa, fitness center, business center and 14,000 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space.

''India is currently undergoing some of the most accelerated hotel development activity in the Asia Pacific region, which poses great opportunities for us to grow our portfolio in this market,'' said Eric Danziger, Wyndham Hotel Group president and chief executive officer.

Subhash Dabas, owner of Tirupati Buildings & Offices, said, ''Our mission to build world-class properties of the highest standards aligns perfectly with the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand.''

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts offers upscale hotel and resort accommodations throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, China and the Caribbean. All Wyndham hotels are either franchised by the company or managed by Wyndham Hotel Management, Inc, one of its affiliates or through a joint-venture partner.
