While the value of the thee-year contract, cited by Business Standard citing unidentified company sources, is worth over $150 million, Dow Jones Newswire quoted Infosys CFO V Balakrishnan as having told it that the value was around $100 million.

The  contract includes managing Microsoft's help desk, desk-side services, IT infrastructure and applications support in 450 locations globally, which Sanjay Jalona, vice-president and head, manufacturing, North America, Infosys, said would further strengthen the Infosys-Microsoft partnership.

Under the contract Infosys would establish a 'Service Excellence Office' to help the IT giant implement various standards and processes. Infosys had already tied-up with Unisys to deliver global desk-side support and service desk services.

According to analysts, the move will allow Microsoft to focus on its core product development, marketing and branding exercise.

Some analysts point out that under the deal Infosys would get early access to Microsoft technologies that will help the company be months ahead of everyone else at product launch and also help develop features of future Microsoft products.
