A global organisation of women corporate directors has chosen Procter & Gamble, The Coca-Cola Company, and Kraft's CEO and chairman Irene Rosenfeld for transforming the boardroom and corporate performance.

WomenCorporateDirectors (WCD) will award the companies for their contribution during its first visionary awards, which are being co-sponsored by KPMG and UPS, on 17 May.

Procter & Gamble has won the ''WCD Visionary Award'' for leadership and governance; The Coca-Cola Company for innovation in shared value and Irene Rosenfeld for strategic leadership.

''Companies with more women directors are outperforming their peers, connecting their strategies to their communities, and innovating with the ideas and leadership of women in the boardroom,'' said Henrietta Holsman Fore, co-chairman of WCD and director of Theravance, Inc.

''Procter & Gamble is delivering the message that women belong in the boardroom,'' said Susan Stautberg, co-founder and co-chair of WCD and president of PartnerCom Corporation.

The consumer products company has five women on its 11-member board - one of the highest percentages of a global corporation - and these directors are engaged strategically.
