Chennai: The city-based business process solution centre of Perot Systems, USA, has been awarded the BS 7799-2:2002 IT Security Certification. The award further expands Perot Systems' record of numerous top-level quality and information security management certifications for all its operations in India.

"Earning the BS 7799 is significant recognition of our relentless focus on building technologies, tools and practices designed to help ensure that we keep customer data and patient healthcare information confidential and secure," said Anurag Jain, who leads Perot Systems' business process solutions group.

All of Perot Systems' operations in India are now ISO9001:2000 and BS 7799 certified. In addition, the company's Technology Services unit in Bangalore and Noida achieved CMMI Level 5 in 2003 and People CMM Level 5 and BS 7799 in 2004. This latest BS 7799 certification covers the people, processes, technology, and facilities associated with information security management delivered from its three facilities in Chennai.

For an organisation to achieve BS 7799-2:2002 IT Security certification, external auditors must test whether their security systems comply with the ten domains prescribed by the standard. These include security policy; asset classification and control; access control; organizational, personnel, physical and environmental security; business continuity and compliance; operational management; and systems development and maintenance. The auditors also check the management systems to ensure there is ongoing monitoring, review, and improvement in the system.

The registration and certification audits, stretching over multiple days and shifts at Perot Systems' business process solutions centre in Chennai, were conducted by KPMG.
