Is Star on an ad hike trek?

Mumbai: Will Star Plus, the number one channel in India today, hike its advertisement rates in the near future? It seems so.

According to some reports, overwhelmed by the demands for its advertisement time on the mainline channel of Star TV, Star Plus is likely to raise its advertisement rates from October 2001, which will incidentally coincide with the ensuing festival season.

The channel had last raised advertisement rates in the month of June 2001. Apparently, the demand for Stars spot rates is presently overwhelming and the channel is already booked for the next three months.

Speaking to domain-B, Star Plus sources said there isnt any immediate plan to make any changes in the rate-card in the immediate future. The last time any changes were made was in the month of June.

The sources said the prime-time advertisement cost right now for a ten-second slot in prime time between 9 pm and 11 pm is Rs 10 lakh and is unlikely to change.

But Star does not plan to increase its advertisement time, which is constant at 10 minutes for a one-hour programme. The only addition to this is a two-minute promo for their own programmes.

For a half-hour programme, the advertisement time is constant at five minutes and promo time for their programmes is one minute.
