The National Association of Software Service Companies (Nasscom), the premier trade body of the Indian IT industry in India, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Colombian Federation of Software and Related Technologies (Fedesoft).

Som Mittal, president of Nasscom and Alberto Pradilla Bermudez, president of Fedesoft, signed the MoU.

The MoU aims at encouraging trade, investment, economic, commercial, technological and friendly relationships between IT industries in Colombia and India.

As a part of this MoU, both bodies will implement joint activities focused at further enhancing understanding and co-operation between the ICT industries of India and Colombia.

The two agencies Fedesoft and Nasscom will promote new forms of economic cooperation in the ICT sector in their capacity.

Both the agencies will also assist their members and other organisations within their countries to establish direct contacts, develop business relations and seek potential investors as well as business partners.

''NASSCOM is delighted to partner with FEDESOFT and with this association we hope to further strengthen the ICT alliances between India and Colombia. With current economic scenario and the difficult market conditions faced by the economies world over, it is imperative that we collaborate and improve the market environment for ICT companies and in particular the small and medium-sized firms,'' Ameet Nivsarkar, vice president of NASSCOM said while announcing the MoU.

''We are confident that this association will go a long way in nurturing the ICT sector and will create new business opportunities in both the countries,'' he added.
