Realme, a Chinese smartphone maker, has confirmed that they have shipped more than 200 million phones since their inception five years ago. Most of these shipments have gone outside China. Realme has become the fifth-fastest smartphone maker to achieve this milestone.

Realme is owned by the Chinese consumer hardware giant BBK Electronics, which also owns other brands such as Oppo and Vivo.

Counterpoint Research, a market analysis firm, shows data stating that only four smartphone companies—Vivo, Huawei, Samsung, and Apple—took less time than Realme to achieve this milestone.

To date, only 14 smartphone manufacturers have been able to ship more than 200 million phones.

Xu Qi, Realme's chief marketing officer, mentioned that they came into existence when there were over 700 smartphone brands in the world. He expressed their pride in having been able to maintain a position among the world's top 10 brands for the past five years.

Over the past six years, the number of smartphone brands globally has dropped from 700 to 250 in September 2023, according to Counterpoint Research.

Xu also said that the company was ready to take on premium smartphone brands with the launch of their new phone, the Realme GT 5 Pro. This will be among the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Sony’s Lytia camera sensor.

Another major manufacturer, Xiaomi has recently released the Xiaomi 14 Pro, which also features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
