Microsoft in negotiations for $1 billion cloud tools deal with Amazon

Microsoft wants to bring Amazon.com, as a customer, the 365 cloud productivity tools. The deal between them would reportedly be worth around $1 billion.

Amazon.com has made the commitment to the amount over the course of five years and will secure more than one million license seats for Microsoft 365.

Microsoft shares have had steady growth since the report was shared on Tuesday, 17 October, 2023.

Headquartered in Redmond, Washington, Microsoft Corporation is a leading American multinational technology company. Microsoft is renowned for its prominent software offerings, including the Windows series of operating systems, the Microsoft 365 suite featuring various productivity applications, and the Edge web browser. In the 2022 Fortune 500 rankings, Microsoft secured the 14th position among the largest corporations in the United States in terms of total revenue. Furthermore, as of 2022, it held the distinction of being the world's largest software producer based on revenue.

Amazon.com, commonly known as Amazon, is a prominent American multinational technology corporation with a primary emphasis on various sectors, including e-commerce, cloud computing, online advertising, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. It has earned recognition as a significant economic and cultural influence on a global scale and is frequently esteemed as one of the most profitable brands worldwide. Amazon is also classified as one of the "Big Five" major American technology enterprises, standing alongside Alphabet (the parent company of Google), Apple, Meta, and Microsoft.

There has been an expectation among Amazon to start setting up new systems in early November. The company is currently using a local premise version of Microsoft Office products.
