Amantya Technologies to develop carrier-grade 5G SA Core with DoT funding

25 Dec 2024

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has extended funding to Amantya Technologies for local development and production of 5G SA Core for public and private deployment.

DoT will utilise the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme of USOF (now Digital Bharat Nidhi) for the `India 5G Stack’ project to develop next generation 5G SA core with updated 3GPP standards.

Under the multi-year contract, Amantya will develop, deploy, operate and maintain DoT’s unified portal and the Digital by Design implementation of the New Telecommunication Act 2023.

Amantya has already developed the necessary technology for enterprise-grade 5G SA Core and now only needs to scale it up to carrier-grade solution compliant with latest 3GPP standards.

The locally developed 5G SA Core will have upgraded nodes and improved security features needed for large-scale public and private deployment and will also be scalable.

It will support advanced features like network slicing, QoS, VoNR, URLLC, and mMTC while also enabling seamless integration with existing 4G/5G networks.

The solution will incorporate functionalities such as geo-redundancy, high availability, traffic monitoring using the EFK framework, and automatic scaling.

Besides, it will provide northbound interfaces for third-party OSS/BSS and billing systems and will be compatible with general-purpose hardware or cloud infrastructure.

The solution will also support deployment on platforms like Kubernetes, OpenStack, and OpenShift, making it flexible for use on carrier, private, or on-premises clouds.

DoT CEO Rajkumar Upadhyay said the initiative is an important step for India’s telecom ecosystem as it supports domestic innovations and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat.’

Amantya Technologies CEO Anuradha Gupta, said local development of carrier-grade 5G SA Core solution is a significant step towards achieving self-reliance in telecom technology.
