Airbus beats Boeing in aircraft orders for 2010

Toulouse, France: Airbus beat rival Boeing Co in net new aircraft orders for the third year running last year with 574 confirmed bookings. The orders flowed in on the back of a strong rebound in the international aviation market.
Airbus's 2010 orders would be worth $74 billion at list prices, though actual revenues would be considerably less as airlines wrest concessions from manufacturers in proportion to the size of their order.
The Toulouse-based manufacturer also confirmed it had delivered a record 510 aircraft last year and said it would better the record this year.
Boeing has reported it took in 530 net orders in 2010 and delivered 462 aircraft.
Airbus CEO Tom Enders said the company would deliver between 520 and 530 aircraft this year, and expressed confidence that the size of the orders for the year would be larger than the deliveries.
Airbus ramped up production of its A380 superjumbos delivering 18 last year and expects to deliver 20-25 this year before boosting production to three per month in 2012.
