Montreal-based Project Phoenix has now joined a growing number of companies that are converting used Bombardier CRJ200 regional jets into executive aircraft that will eventually sell for about $18 million.

Project Phoenix is a partner in the programme with Aerospace Concepts of Montreal and Action Aviation of the UK. Aerospace Concepts and Project Phoenix will handle sourcing and maintenance and manage the completion process while Action Aviation will focus on marketing and sale of the aircraft, dubbed the CRJ-Phoenix.

The actual completion work on the aircraft will be outsourced to independent centres.

The CRJ-Phoenix is expected to have a maximum range, with auxiliary fuel tanks, of 3,000nm.

The initial market focus will be on Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Phoenix now joins Fokker Services in the Netherlands, Indianapolis Jet Center, PATS Aircraft and Canadian interiors specialist, Flying Colours, in converting CRJs into executive-outfitted airplanes.
