AI Express offers attractive Kolkata-Singapore service for the lean season

Kolkata: Air India and its low-cost division, AI Express, will likely hike passenger fares by at least 10 per cent in the coming festival season, beginning October. AI Express also said it has entered into an understanding with Singapore Tourism Board for its Kolkata-Singapore service, which will cost Rs1,299, exclusive of taxes, and will be applicable in the period 1 August - 30 September.
This lean season offering will have a tax component of Rs4,500 per ticket in addition to the base price.
The low-cost airline, which commenced operations in 2005 with three leased aircraft, now has a fleet of 19 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. By the end of 2009, it will have a fleet of 25 aircraft, of which 18 would be owned and seven leased..
AI Express currently operates services to 14 international destinations, including Kuwait, Muscat, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
