Delta Air Lines has announced that it will install Aircell's Gogo in-flight broadband network on its entire domestic mainline fleet, which currently numbers 330 aircraft. It said installation is expected to be complete by next summer.
When complete, it will be the "most extensive Wi-Fi network in the sky," according to Delta CEO, Richard Anderson.
The facility will allow passengers to access the Internet and corporate VPNs and also perform SMS and other functions with Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
Access will cost $9.95 on flights of 3 hours or less and $12.95 on flights that are longer.
Gogo will be offered initially on Delta's 133 MD-88/90s before it is installed on more than 200 737s, 757s and 767-300s by next summer.
