DGCA asks Kingfisher CEO to explain flight cancellations

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has summoned chief executive of cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines to explain the reasons behind the large number of flight cancellations.
Hundreds of passengers were stranded at various airports such as Kolkatta, Chennai and Mumbai because of the flight cancellations.
The airline cancelled about 20 flights on Monday and about 80 flights from six metro cities on Sunday.
Union civil aviation minister Ajit Singh told reporters that DGCA has called Kingfisher to find out the status and reasons.
"It is a very serious matter," Ajit Singh said adding that the airline did not inform the regulator about the recent cancellations.
Sanjay Agarwal, the airline's CEO will appear before the regulator on Tuesday to explain the status.
