GoAir orders 72 Airbus 320neo aircraft worth $7.2bn

Mumbai: Wadia-family owned, and India's smallest private low-fare operator, GoAir today announced that it had placed an order for additional 72 A320neo aircraft worth Rs32,400 crore or $7.2 billion. GoAir's total order with Airbus is now 92 aircraft worth Rs43,200 crore or $9.6 billion.
Airlines manage hefty discounts from manufacturers with large orders, so the actual cost will differ widely from announced list prices.
The airline has previously placed an order for 20 older model Airbus A320s.
The airline also announced the appointment of Giorgio De Roni as its chief executive officer. De Roni has previously served as CEO of private Italian airline Air One.
"These are all firm orders and the deliveries will start in 2015. We may take as many as 15 planes each year," managing director, Jeh Wadia, told media in Mumbai.
Go Air currently operates 10 aircraft with an average age of two years which makes it the youngest, and also the smallest, fleet in India. The company said it will take delivery of its additional aircraft from its previous order over the next 24 months.
