Jet Air fights AirAsia on its own ground with cut-price offers

Heating up the air fare wars particularly in southern India, Jet Airways has launched a promotional offer on the routes to be operated by AirAsia India, with fares as low as Rs908 (all-inclusive) as part of this scheme on economy class tickets.
The Jet Airways offer is valid on bookings before 5 October for travel after 15 January 2015.
Under the offer, Jet Airways is offering Kochi-Bangalore tickets at Rs908 and Bangalore-Kochi at Rs1,162. Bangalore-Chennai tickets are priced at Rs1,162 while Chennai-Bangalore can be booked for Rs1,017. On the Bangalore-Goa route, tickets are priced at Rs1,162 while on the return trip is cheaper at Rs916.
In the Bangalore-Chandigarh and Bangalore-Jaipur routes tickets are priced at around Rs.2,390.
Budget carrier AirAsia India had recently launched a promotional scheme offering fares as low as Rs690. The booking period for this AsiaAsia offer will remain open till 5 October for travel between 15 January and 30 June, 2015.
AirAsia India from 5 September added Jaipur and Chandigarh to its network as part of its first foray into north India.
Airlines in India this year have come up with many promotional schemes to attract flyers.
Low-priced air tickets offered by various Indian airlines seem to have had an effect, with the number of passengers flying in August growing by over 8.3 per cent compared to July this year.
The latest figures showed the number of domestic passengers carried by the airlines grew from 52.60 lakh in July to 56.97 lakh in August.
