No time frame for Kingfisher revival proposal: DGCA

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has set no time frame for cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines to submit a comprehensive revival plan, the aviation sector regulator said today.

DGCA Arun Mishra said the regulator would closely scrutinise any revival plan submitted by the ailing airline, although it has not propose any time frame for submitting the revival plan.

''They (Kingfisher) said they would submit the revival plan. There is no time frame for that. Whenever they are ready they can come. We have not got any indication from them when they are going to come to us,'' Mishra said on the sidelines of ACI Asia-Pacific Small Airport seminar.

The DGCA had suspended Kingfisher's Scheduled Operators Permit (SOP) on 19 October following a lock-out and the airline's failure to come up with a viable plan of financial and operational revival.

DGCA suspended Kingfisher's scheduled operator permit as it found the airline could not be relied to run ''safe, efficient and reliable operations.''

The Kingfisher management declared a lock-out on 1 October after it failed to break an impasse with workers who have been on strike since 30 September demanding payment of overdue salaries.

Kingfisher lifted the lock-out on 25 October, but employees have not returned. Also, the company has so far failed to come up with a comprehensive revival plan.
