Singapore Airlines has announced that it will deploy another Airbus A380 super jumbo on its route between London Heathrow and Singapore. The aircraft will be brought into service from 16 July and will take the number of flights between the two destinations up, from seven to 11 a week.

Singapore Airlines first began services between London and Singapore with the A380 in March this year. It also launched its first A380 flight to Tokyo only last week.

"The deployment of another A380 on this route will cater to continual strong demand from customers travelling between Singapore and London," commented Huang Cheng Eng of Singapore Airlines.

The A380 will be temporarily taken off the London-Singapore schedule between 31 July and 9 August and will be deployed on routes for Beijing in order to meet increased demand during the forthcoming Olympics.

The A380 aircraft is the biggest passenger aircraft in the world and is capable of seating up to 525 people across its two decks.
