SpiceJet website swamped after latest Rs599 ticket offer

The website of domestic SpiceJet, ever the leader in India's air fare 'price wars', crashed today, being unable to handle the rush of customers seeking to avail of its latest fare window with tickets as low as Rs599 – far cheaper than all but sleeper-class train tickets.

Many customers lamented on social media networks that the website was inaccessible.

In SpiceJet's latest offer, it has launched a three-day discount with four lakh tickets up for sale, which runs till Friday. Discounted tickets are valid for travel from 1 July-24 October 2015.

Under the offer, tickets on routes like Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Delhi-Dehradun, Guwahati-Kolkata, Ahmedabad-Mumbai and Bangalore-Hyderabad all are priced at Rs599, inclusive of taxes.

International flights start as low as Rs3,499 all-included for Delhi-Kathmandu, with discounted fares available on most other international routes too.

''We are thrilled to continue to make air travel more affordable and accessible than ever before, with our new 'Cheaper Than Train Fares' sale. Fares for this offer are lower than AC train fares on many routes, and cheaper than non-AC sleeper class trains on several routes. And this time we are including most of our international flights in this offer too,'' said Kaneswaran Avili, chief commercial officer of SpiceJet.

This is the fourth ticket sale by SpiceJet this year alone, and lowest ticket price offer to date.
