Emirates A380 makes emergency landing at Hyd’bd airport

Hyderabad: An Airbus 380, the world's largest aircraft, made an emergency landing at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad in the early hours of Sunday, after it was diverted due to a technical snag in the aircraft.
The Emirates Airlines EK385 flight, with 481 passengers on board, was on its way from Bangkok to Dubai, an airport official said.
This is also the third occasion in three years that the RGIA has successfully handled an A-380, the official said.
''The aircraft landed with 481 passengers safely at 3.40am,'' the official said.
The pilot cited a technical snag as the reason for making the emergency landing at the airport in Shamshabad, around 20km from Hyderabad.
Failing to receive clearance from the Chennai airport as the runway was busy, the pilot then contacted Air Traffic Control at Shamshabad and got clearance to land.
